Gulf Carbon Fiber Industries Holding LLC (GCFI) is building a competitive, export-oriented composites platform that can serve international customers while creating long-term industrial value and knowledge-based capabilities. The company has announced plans for a more than $120 million advanced composites line in Qatar that will produce carbon fiber, Type 4 pressure vessels for compressed natural gas (CNG) and hydrogen storage and other high-performance composite solutions.
The platform will combine carbon fiber production with downstream capabilities in textiles, prepregs and composite components, targeting energy, mobility and industrial industries. It will be supported by an extensive R&D program dedicated to new resin systems, processing technologies and application development in cooperation with international partners and local institutions in Qatar.
“Gulf Carbon Fiber Industries Holding aims to position Qatar as a regional hub for advanced composite materials,” says Khalil Nasser K Sh Al Hajri, chairman of the board of GCFI.
The company plans to share project partners, timelines and implementation phases in future announcements.
